MY LAST WISH

I'm sorry I'm lying, I'm sorry I'm cheating, I'm sorry I don't care, I'm sorry I'm lazy, I'm extremely sorry for all the people that got hurt by me. A very common word that almost everyone uses for every single thing, seems like the meaning of that word is lost or misused somewhere. We consider ourselves a pretty big deal but we don't know at the end of the day how insignificant we are to this world. The importance of emotions, thoughts, trust, sincerity, courage is all misused, and has zero meaning at present.

It's not easy to think about death. The majority of people avoid this. People often discuss the subject after a life-threatening illness is diagnosed. And even then they still refuse to think about it. Most importantly, this is when you have plenty of time to think about your own life. It is the moment when most of your actions make you feel bad and guilty. Again, we don't realize. We're too busy chasing and battling. Many circumstances in our lives arise for us to realize the meaning and significance of life. Yet what does that mean? Our circumstances can change in an instant. Our money, our health, can be taken from us in an instant. And, how many of us ever find these things to be real? How many of us are going about our daily lives under the false pretense we'll see tomorrow, or even next year?

Let me introduce Ali Banat. His life experience is also an important lesson for every single one of us. He was on his way to work and unexpectedly  he burnt his mouth after taking a sip of coffee. He found a big lump in his mouth as he looked into his rear-view mirror. He immediately went to his doctor who was adamant that this was not a cancerous tumour as the majority of cases such are cancer, according to Ali, are symptoms of excessive drinking, smoking, or drugs. All of which Ali had never indulged in. The doctor however, sent Ali to a specialist that ordered further tests. The doctor however, referred Ali to a specialist that ordered further tests. Unfortunately, tests showed that this was cancer, and that it had already spread across Ali's body, even more shockingly, it had been active in Ali's body for around four years before this check-up. The doctor told Ali he had 7 more months to live.

A video titled, "Gifted with Cancer" went viral in 2015, and that was the first time that anyone had heard of Ali. The video is an interview that introduces Ali as a man recently diagnosed with stage 4, mouth cancer, and explains how Ali chose to undo his lavish lifestyle completely for Allah's sake. Ali was a bachelor who was popular, wealthy, and looking good.  He had it all in terms of wealth, stature, comfort. But in this interview, he candidly places no value on these materialistic items. When asked about his Ferrari, Ali simply shrugs and says that, "you realize all this stuff, it doesn’t benefit you in any way".

After his diagnosis, Ali has agreed to donate all his resources to helping the poor. His last wish was to leave this world with nothing but his deeds. And so he set out to do just that.

Ali Banat passed away on May 29th, 2018 after his 3 years fight with cancer.

As you all know, Coronavirus is becoming a threat to this world. There are more than 3 million confirmed cases worldwide. Over the last 3 months, 200 Thousand people have died. And the numbers are getting bigger every day. Most of the countries are already under lockdown. I just want to remind everyone that most people do have different goals, different ways of thinking and different interpretations towards life, the most important thing is to understand the difference between right and wrong. But it's all going to be fine and back to normal. Let us hope and pray for the virus to end as soon as possible.

Stay Strong. Stay Safe. Stay Home.

Its not too late for us to realize the value of life. Every minute is important to us. Don't wait for the last few minutes of your life to realize the importance of life. When people say live life for today and forget about tomorrow, it doesn't mean that you have to spend all your money and do whatever you feel like. It simply means value every moment.

What's your last wish?
